About me

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am 25 years old. Yes 25, very old…..I started university 2 years ago in the aim to fulfil my ambition and become a PE teacher. I originally did a Diploma course at North Devon College, so I am a qualified Sport Therapist too (many tricks in this bag….). This, amongst a variety of qualifications, led me down an unusual route of coming to university. I didn’t start till I was 23 and knew that I had to do it now or never. So this proves already that it is never too late, but don’t leave it too long, time goes soooooo fast!!! And you need a job at some point!!!

I am studying an Honours degree in Coaching and Physical Education at Marjon in Plymouth. The best thing about coming to university is the opportunities it gives you.

Sport at uni

As a sport student, I love playing sport and keeping healthy. University has given me major opportunities to play at a high standard within football. The ladies team got to the top 8 in the country, now that is pretty good for a small university!! I get to experience good quality football coaching, travelling around the country, meeting fellow athlete’s, the list is endless and is continually growing.

Don't let money worries put you off

The one thing that was worrying before I started university was the finances!! The dreaded word…. However, this was overcome by the amount of support I got when I went to find out about the costing of it all. There are so many people and support staff that are willing to offer help and advice (all free) to you whenever you need it. This made the whole financial situation better to deal with as I understood where I could get support.

Why you should go to uni

Anyway enough of the boring stuff, university is brilliant. It has dramatically changed my views and direction in life already, and I still have a year to go (maybe 2: I might do a PGCE?!).

University can offer you trips abroad to America or Europe teaching or coaching children and opportunities to join clubs of your favourite sports. It really opens up your chances to succeed in what you really want to do. And by far the best thing about university is that you are surrounded by friends you will never forget. Your university years are said to be the best, so my advice to you, is come and see for yourselves!!!!
