Non Means-tested Bursary

for Diploma Students

  • Up to £6372 per year

  • non repayable

  • non means-tested

Health and social care students on a Diploma course, for example DipHE Nursing, have their tuition fees paid by the Department of Health.

They are also entitled to apply for a non-means-tested bursary of up to £6,372 for students outside London, whether they live at home or away from home.

Those with children or other dependents will receive more.

As this bursary is not means tested, it does not depend on household income.

Students who receive this bursary will not be able to get a student loan.

For both of the bursaries, the main requirements are that you fulfil the UK residency criteria.

For more information on the eligibility criteria, look at www.nhsstudentgrants.co.uk

Students who receive a bursary will also have help with the cost of getting to and from their clinical placements.

This will either be travel expenses, or if it is too far to travel every day, the cost of alternative accommodation while they are on a placement.
