Disabled Student Allowance increases

From 2008/9, the Disabled Student Allowance will pay a maximum amount of £20,000 to full-time students for non-medical helpers.

The maximum amount for part-time students requiring non-medical helpers will be £15,000.

Maintenance Grant for more students

 

On top of the changes to student finance that were made in 2006, the government has announced that more students will now qualify for the Maintenance Grant. Graduates will also be able to take a 'repayment holiday' from their student loans. Find out more about about student finance

Main Points

  • All new full-time students starting a higher education course in September 2008 with a household income up to £25,000 will receive the full Maintenance Grant of £2,825 per year.

 

  • All new full-time student starting a higher education course in September 2008 with a household income up to £60,005 will qualify receive part of the Maintenance Grant. Find out more about the Maintenance Grant
